The good news!

After the good news about the car the other day I was waiting for some bad news or something to go wrong, as has been the recent trend. Surprisingly that has not been the case and as well as having a good day with the prosthetist yesterday I got two more bits of good news.

Just before lunch yesterday I got a phone call from the OT (Occupational Therapist), who had put the case for the Kitchen worktop to her manager again, for an update. They have agreed to do the work which is fantastic and there is more good news. Because the work is not that massive i.e. remove one cupboard and shelf, cut the worktop and lower it they think the cost will be low. If this is the case they can do the work through their budget without it going through the DGF (Disabled Facilities Grant). The OT will send round their contractor to value the work and see if it can be done quickly or if I will have to wait. She told me she was hoping to get the paper work done for the DFG for the wet room this week. If she couldn’t she is on leave for 2 weeks but would make it a priority on her return. All I have to do now is wait for the contractor, this is still the NHS so I expect it will be a long wait. Everything has now been confirmed so even though it may take an age at least I know it is going to take place, which is the main thing.

Later in the afternoon I got a phone call from the car dealer, she had been on the phone to the dealers that had the Peugeot 5008 in the colour I wanted. There were only two dealers and they had only had the vehicles for a couple of days so she thought the chances of getting one were non-existent. The first dealer was in Sheffield and as it turned out owed Peterborough a few favours and agreed to let them have the 5008. I was asked if I minded them driving the car down and as it was only going to put about 90 miles on the clock I was fine with that. On the way back from physio today I got a call from her again to say my Motability application had been accepted. They have the car with them already which has to go through their workshop but I can pick it up next Tuesday afternoon. This will open up a whole new world to me and I can’t wait to start exploring it again, roll on next Tuesday! All the boxes are pretty much ticked now and I can move on and start living again. I will give you an update on today’s physio session in tomorrow’s post. Did the socket stand up to the ultimate test?
