The good news outweighs the bad

There has been a lot going on recently, some good but one really bad experience. Lets start with the bad news and get it over and done with:-

Bad News
Way back in July (23rd to be exact) I came off of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) and applied for ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) as guided by the Job Centre. This was because the condition in the stump was deteriorating. I went for the Medical Assessment on the 5th October but the whole thing has got so complicated I am still waiting for a decision. The worst part is I have been paid nothing since the 23rd July, even though I am supposed to get a basic payment until a decision has been made. Strapped for cash is an understatement and as I am so desperate I have got my MP involved. Hopefully it will be resolved very soon and this will now be left for another blog post.

The good news
Work got underway in the Bath Room on Monday to convert it into a Wet Room. It is coming along nicely and they hope to have it finished tomorrow. I will write a blog post when it is completed and include lots of pictures for you to peruse at your leisure.

I saw my Doctor yesterday for a follow up on the infected knee. It is looking much better now but as it is not gone completely and as a precautionary measure I have been given another two weeks of antibiotics. I am more than happy with that decision, lets squash it completely before we stop taking them. I have an appointment to go back in two weeks but if I don’t need it I can cancel it.

I received an email yesterday from an Author who had read my blog, he asked if I would be willing to help him as he wants to know more about prosthetics on the NHS. He is doing research for a new book he is writing which is fictional but firmly based on fact. I replied explaining that I was happy to share my individual experience, as all amputees are different, but I am happy to answer any questions he has. We have arranged to meet next week, I feel quite honored to have been asked to help with some research, it should be really interesting.

Apart from the major cluster that is going on with the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) things are ticking along quite well at the moment. I wonder what’s around the next corner?
